Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

A Prodigal's Path is designed for men and women who are ready to make a genuine change — particularly those coming out of incarceration, struggling with addiction, or experiencing homelessness. Applicants must be 18 or older and sincerely committed to the process of transformation. This is not a quick fix. It is a serious commitment to a new way of life.
A Prodigal's Path is not for everyone. This program is not for those seeking a quick fix or a short-term solution. It requires a serious, long-term commitment — not weeks or a month, but an extended residential stay. Those who are unwilling to live by the structure and accountability of the community, be completely honest about their behavior, or do the hard work required should not apply. We are also not currently equipped to serve individuals who require specialized clinical mental health treatment. If you are unsure whether this program is right for you or your loved one, reach out and ask. We would rather have an honest conversation than have someone enter who is not ready.
Yes. A Prodigal's Path is completely free to accepted residents. We do not charge participants for housing, meals, or program participation. The program is funded entirely through donations from individuals, churches, and community partners. All that is required of a resident is a genuine desire to change and the willingness to do whatever it takes to get there.
Yes. Faith is central to everything we do at A Prodigal's Path. We believe that lasting transformation is rooted in a relationship with God, a sense of God-given purpose, and a community built on love, accountability, and honesty. We welcome anyone who is sincerely committed to change, regardless of their background.
A Prodigal's Path is a two-year residential program. We are not a 30-day program. The full two-year commitment is what makes the difference — it provides the time needed to build new habits, repair relationships, develop vocational skills, and earn the trust that lasting change demands.
No. A Prodigal's Path does not accept government funding of any kind. We are supported entirely by the generosity of private donors, churches, and community partners. This allows us to operate according to our values and mission without outside restrictions on our faith-based approach.
Daily life is structured and intentional. Residents wake early, participate in morning routines, work assignments, and community responsibilities throughout the day. Evenings include group meetings, accountability sessions, mentorship, and community time. Structure replaces the chaos that has defined many residents' past lives.
We understand how hard it is to watch someone you love struggle. The most important thing to know is that the person seeking help must want it for themselves — the program only works for those who are genuinely ready to change. If your loved one is ready, encourage them to reach out using the form above. If you have questions as a family member, we are happy to talk with you too. You are not alone in this.
There are several ways to get involved. You can make a financial donation through our Zeffy page — every dollar goes directly toward building and operating the program. You can also attend our upcoming events, spread the word through your church or community, volunteer your time, or partner with us as a local business. Use the contact form above to connect with us.
Yes. A Prodigal's Path is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with EIN 41-4504530. All donations are tax-deductible. We are committed to full financial transparency and will publish annual reports and financial disclosures as they become available. Visit our Transparency page for more details.
